Back in May, Mr. Pumpkin took me to Las Vegas. He had a conference to attend and work and I got to go along. Way back in the days of dating, last year, we also went to Las Vegas and had a two fantastic dinners, both of them at Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich restaurants. This last time we only managed to repeat one of them.
If you go to Las Vegas, do yourself a favor and put aside enough money for dinner at the bar at B&B Ristorante in the Venitian. No, do not get a table, sit at the bar. I mean it. The bar tenders at B&B are incredibly knowledgable and incredibly skilled. We managed to get the same guy, Eric (I think) both visits. And oh, my!
First, get the Negroni. If you have never had one, get this one. If you have had one, get this one. It is exquisitely wonderful. Slightly bitter, mostly smooth, a touch citrusy – lovely. This cocktail is my favorite and B &B’s cemented that.
The bartender was just the right amount of talkative and informative. He will help you order the very thing you want, and while I’m sure the waiters are as excellently trained, working with the bartender is a more relaxed experience.
I don’t remember all the names of the things we ordered, but here it all is in it’s wonderful glory:
Pappardelle Bolognese and Grilled Octopus
A pea dish I don’t see on the menu anymore and Mint Love Letters. That name is no lie, it is an amazing dish.
So, when you are in Vegas, eat at the bar at B&B Ristorante. Srsly.
